North Cross United Methodist Church has a rewarding career opportunity in Kansas City, Missouri for a Part time Youth Director. The Part time Youth Director shall seek to foster a caring Christian community and build our youth’s faith. He or she will live our mission to “Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World” and engage in our vision of “Balancing Life in Christ through Worship, Grow and Serve.”
Responsibilities
Organize and lead youth activities:
Recruit and coordinate adult volunteers to support youth programs as mentors, chaperones, and leaders.
Participate with volunteer teachers in leading the Mid. and Sr. High church school classes.
Conduct on-going outreach to youtt
Provide care and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis.
Develop and oversee the youth ministry budgets.
Create, coordinate and support fundraising opportunities to support youth camp, mission trips and other youth events.
Participate in and support “Safe Sanctuary” training
Qualifications
Solid understanding of the foundations of the Christian faith and Methodist tradition, and a strong desire to nurture young people in the Christian faith
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with youth, seeking to build trusting and caring relationships
Energetic and creative
Prior experience and/or training in youth ministries or working with youth
Minimum of Associates degree preferred but not required
Strong organizational, communications, and leadership skills
Working knowledge of Excel for managing and balancing the budgets, tracking fundraiser monies, and tracking attendance
Commitment to active participation in worship and Sunday morning activities at North Cross United Methodist Church
